Getting Mail back off icloud onto iphone permanently?

After joining icloud, my mail from my other email accounts that was on my iphone 4 has now been moved to the cloud and i can't figure out how to get it back on my iphone. It has taken anything over a week old and put it in the cloud, and it is not searchable any more. I am able to "load more messages" 35 or 50 at a time but it doesnt stay on my phone. Not happy with the icloud :-(
