So I spent another couple hours tonight downloading and trying to install jailbreak on iPhone 4 iOS 5.0.1. Got it fully installed and thought it was a success but I couldn't open cydia. I had the icon but as soon as I open the screen goes black and immediately closes. Tried to restore and reinstall

Any ideas or help. I used these two links

When You finish installing the IPSW on your device, you need to use iBooty, which should be located on your computer after downloading sn0wbreeze. Just connect your iPhone to your computer and open iBooty. The rest is self explanatory. Even if you have already ran iBooty in the process of jailbreaking, you must do it again after you get the final, jailbroken, product.
 
Try rejailbreaking. Also a word of advice: don't upgrade as soon as the jailbreak comes out, it leads to complications. Wait until the untethered version comes out, it doesn't have as many bugs as a tethered version does. But if you insist, try rejailbreaking or using redsn0w instead of sn0wbreeze. It's not as good (in my opinion) but at least it could get the job done. I could provide a link if you need.
