I have 6 devices registered and have used the service a few times. Each time it has been accurate in locating the phone or iPad and even viewing an actual house where a iphone was left in error. My suggestion is try it as it is a free service.it is not possible to track if the phone is off or out of range. It will however show last position found and email you when it is found.
