What does jailbroken mean?

It basically means freeing the restrictions Apple put on the iPhone. When you jailbreak, you get another AppStore called Cydia. You can download 1000's of themes, tweaks, apps, and other things in there!

If you're running 4.3.4/5 or 4.2.9/10 don't jailbreak. If you're running anything lower than that. Go to http://www.jailbreakme.com on your phone and click the free button.
