I thought that I would refresh my rusty foreign language ‘skills’ using Duolingo. Perhaps one day we will all be able to travel again.
There are audio exercises with such basic things as translate from foreign language words that translate to e.g. ‘a man’ ‘a woman’ using speech recognition these come out as hey man or hey woman.
If I use dictation into notes, for example, and I speak ‘a man a woman a dog’, the text comes out as ‘hey man a woman a dog’

I have tried it with Siri on and off, as obviously it expects ‘hey’ as in ‘hey Siri’ but that makes no difference.

I have turned off Siri and then back on again to go through the initial Siri setup, but that has not improved matters. Any suggestions, please?

Thanks, but yes. I even tried some accents- to a poor extent.
Obviously it can recognise an ‘a’ in context, but not on its own or with a single noun.

I even tried ABCD and got ‘hey BCD’

Fortunately, on Duolingo, I can suppress dictation, which is help at the moment.
Bit of a puzzle.
