Fans of classic arcade gaming on the iPhone are about to be very happy indeed with the release of Taitos Bubble Bobble Double to the App Store. The game is both a faithful adaptation of the classic 1986 Bubble Bobble arcade hit, as well as an innovative, all-new action game conceived especially for touchscreen play. In the intriguing New Style mode, players are tasked with protecting hero Bubblun from waves of approaching enemies by trapping them in bubbles. Your path through the game and the bonus items that appear depend greatly on the strategies you use, including trapping multiple enemies together in a single bubble, or setting off high-scoring chain reactions. This new mode features updated graphics, visual effects, and stunning boss battles, while still aiming to preserve the bubble-popping flavour of the old game.
However, if youre old-school all the way and nothing else will do, then Classic Style is the way to go, being a faithful rendition of the original Bubble Bobble. And judging by the comments in the App Store, this is the mode that most people are loving. It features all 100 levels of play, as well as the extend bubbles and bonus items, giving both new and old fans the chance to enjoy a slice of authentic arcade gaming glory.
