Double Dragon Coming to iPhone in March

Yet another classic arcade game will soon be making its way to the iPhone, with the announcement today from Aksys Games that it will be bringing Double Dragon to the App Store this March. The legendary side-scrolling beat ‘em up is currently being developed by Brizo Interactive, and will be an enhanced remake of the original arcade game, featuring all-new art, music and extras.

The story centres around the Black Warriors, who have taken a girl called Marian hostage and presented Billy and Jimmy with a grim ultimatum: give up the sacred Sousetsuken scrolls, or they’ll never see Marian again. Billy and Jimmy then take to the (side-scrolling) streets to hunt down the Black Warriors and rescue Marian, with the help of their deadly martial arts prowess and slick street smarts, punching and kicking their way through endless armies of thugs.

The brand-new version of Double Dragon will have completely new character sprites, as well as new attacks, enemies, bosses and even achievements and hidden characters to unlock. An easy-to-use combo system has been developed, using the on-screen controller. You’ll be able to play either on your own, or with a friend via Bluetooth in Double Dragon Mode.
