after update.... with imessage turned off I can no longer send sms

iphone 4 with ios7 update
I have never used imessage before because it replies with my husbands email address (our apple ID) - I have always had it turned off, no problems.

I updated to ios7 the other day.

Here's what it does:

With imessage turned OFF....
- I can sms my husbands iphone in our house (preseumably it's using the wifi)
- I cannot sms anyone else who's out of the wifi zone
- cellular data is turned on, btw

With imessage turned ON...
- I can sms anyone... but it comes up with my husbands apple ID!!

basically I just want things the way they were, to sms anyone, with no imessage involved!

Backup your device and restore. Afterwards, log out of your husband's AppleID and sign in on your own. Or, open up Settings.app > Messages > and scroll down to the bottom, and in the Send iMessages As portion, make sure it's your phone number rather than your husband's AppleID email.
