3gs 16gb only shows 6.21gb of memory even after firmware update

I have a 3gs that only shows 6.21gb of avalible memory even though I updated it to ios5 which I thought may have resolved some issue with ramdisk size etc etc it still remains the same , any advise on how to resolve this would be great.

Connect your iPhone to your computer and open up iTunes and click on restore there. iTunes will factory restore your iPhone. Now if you decide to restore your backup files after performing the factory restore thing, your backup files will use some of the available space on your iPhone. If you do not restore your backup, then you should have more that 6.21gb of free space right after a factory restore.
