wifi symbol not showing up?

when i first got my iPhone it would change symbols when i switched from 3g to wifi. now when i switch to wifi the 3g symbol just stays there.

Probably a reboot of the phone should fix that. But the reality is, the 3G chipset is on all the time. They simply remove it from the screen when on WiFi to keep people from being confused what signal they are using for internet access.

I know thats why i like the change in symbol but when it doesnt change i cant tell, plus i think there is something wrkng with my phone
