My niece has this colorful semi circle appear on screen under the front camera of her Iphone7. Can anyone please tell me what it is.

It looks like A photo taken while Digital Touch had been used in Imessage. It can be done with photo, video or text. Attached is an example and the button for it is located below the text box in iMessage. It is the black button with a red heart with two fingers on it
