Still wet outside — a low-pressure area north of the state is currently pulling “Nolo,” now a hurricane, directly towards the Big Island. Sometime later tonight, a high-pressure area will displace the low-pressure area and cause “Nolo” to make a sharp left turn away from the islands. The sooner this happens, the better off we’ll be.

Hurricane Nolo parked itself overnight with its outer edge just outside the southern tip of the Big Island. We’re still waiting for it to move west like it’s supposed to. It’s been dark, gray, and wet—but not anywhere close to the possible 30” forecast. Except for a few mild gusts, wind hasn’t been a factor.

Nolo moved, finally! It strengthened some, but should remain at a safe distance for the rest of its journey.

Tomorrow looks to be the sunniest day for the coming week.
