Redmond Pie reports today that the 7th beta of jailbreaking tool Redsn0w 0.9.8 has been released today. It is only a small update, but it follows on from the recent news that Apple had updated the IPSW for the first-gen iPad in the iOS 5 beta 6 without changing the filename or version number. It was not known why Apple had taken this step. According to Redmond Pie, regardless of Apple’s reasons for the changes to the IPSW, the Redsn0w beta 7 has now fixed the issue. The latest Redsn0w update also brings with it support for tethered jailbreaking on iOS 4.3.5 and 4.2.10, which basically means that jailbreakers will not have to target Redsn0w to ISPW of either of those aforementioned iOS versions when jailbreaking. So basically, it’s back to jailbreaking as usual, and the same instructions as before apply.
