Driver issue possibly. Uninstall iTunes, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour, and Apple Application Support from your Control Panel. Reboot your device and reinstall a fresh copy of iTunes. Run it as an administrator when installing, and change the compatibility to Run As An Administrator at all times.

It may be possible to only uninstall the driver and then allow Windows to reinstall it automatically. It can be found under Universal Serial Bus controllers in Device Manager. Here's a link to an article which may help resolve your problem, and includes a section regarding checking on the driver and uninstalling it if necessary.

If that doesn't solve your issue then it may be necessary to follow the complete uninstall outlined by willerz2. If you do so, be sure to complete the uninstalls in the order given. Here's another article that outlines the whole process.
