TomTom announced today that it has just update its iOS Navigation app for iPhone and iPad with a couple of major new features. First up, it is now possible to quickly and easily navigate to places that you’ve found on websites and other apps by copying an address and pasting it into the TomTom app. You won’t even have to type in the address as the app will automatically work out the destination and give you directions. Secondly, foursquare compatibility has been added to the app. All you have to do is link foursquare to the TomTom app, and then you’ll be able to use it to search and navigate to your favourite foursquare places, as well as checking in and collecting your points when you arrive.

“Drivers now have new ways to find places with their TomTom app,” says Corinne Vigreux, Managing Director Consumer at TomTom. “This should be particularly helpful when people are off on holidays and day trips. They can find great places to visit and get there fast with foursquare or a quick copy-paste. And that leaves more time to relax and have fun.”

The update also includes general tweaks and improvements to the user interface to make it more intuitive to use.

The update is free if you already have the app.

Finally apple is getting rid of maps and using a decent navigation app where you can actually use it and while maps was GOOD it was more like electronic maps where you had to be holding the phone and it was impossible to use if you where driving alone even though most cars have built in sat nav its good that apple made this move
