Tim Cook continues on his travels this week, moving on from Beijing to India, where MacRumors reports he made a pre-dawn visit to the Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai today. New Apple India head Sanjay Kaul joined the Apple CEO on his visit.

Aside from visiting the famous temple, Cook also met various business executives, including Vodafone India CEO Sunil Sood, Tata Group chairman Cyrus Mistry, and TCS CEO Natarajan Chandrasekaran, at the glamorous Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai where Cook is staying for the duration of his 5-day visit.

Indian website Mid-Day also reported that Cook is to visit Hyderabad on Thursday, where it is thought he will announce the building of a $25 million technology development centre that will have Apple Maps development as its main focus, and jobs for more than 150 employees.

Before he leaves on Saturday, Cook is also due to meet with India’s prime minister, Narendra Modi, where they may well discuss Apple’s newly announced first retail stores to be built in India, which have just been approved by the Indian government.

With sales in the US and China slowing, Apple is looking increasingly to India, with the company’s revenue in that country growing by 56% in the last quarter, for the first time topping $1 billion.
