Synced phone lost everything!

my computer said it didn't recognize my phone so it recommended a restore.

I did so and when my phone synced all of my recent apps and numbers were gone..

PLEASE HELP! my work numbers are on it and I barely got through today without them!

Did you use to backup the phone before using iTunes? If yes then you can just restore from a backup and all your contacts will be back.

After connecting your phone to your computer, open up iTunes, then right click on your iPhone icon in the left panel of iTunes. In the drop list on the right click, select "restore backup" then follow instructions.

Sorry, but today is the day for questions, from me. Regarding your note above, does iTunes always show only ONE backup or is it supposed to show several past backups? I've noticed that I can access only one, even though I've made several weeks ago. Is there a secret handshake, or whatever, I need to access ALL my previous backups? Or am I just clueless about how the backup function works? Thanks, bab.....

The most I've ever had is three. I think your backups are only stored for a certain amount of time however (excluding the most recent). A 3 week old back up isn't much use when you've got one from the other day. Once iOS 5 is released you will have an automatic backup every time you plug your phone into the charger and are connected to wifi...
