Sync with itunes slow

hey guys new to the forum and alittle slow so take it easy on me.. when i plug my iphone 3gs into itunes to try and sync it goes through the steps and copys everything but then it says step 7 of 7 and stays there for a very long time i left it for 7-8 hours and still dont finish i just cancels it.. what would be the problem with this? i am thinking of getting a new desktop pc and syncing my iphone and my gf iphone on the same itunes.. can this be done or do i need 2 pc's?

I have no idea why it is taking so long to sync, but if you and your gf want to sync to the same iTunes it can be done, but I would consider getting separate apple ID's. My gf and I do the same.

maybe its slow because my pc is junk lol.. me and my gf do have seperate apple id's i just want to have both our phones on the same pc with out loosing any data and without mixing up our songs.. i dunno if this is possible or not seems songs are stored on the pc itself.
