Still stuck on "waiting for changes to be applied"

I left my phone plugged in since around 9am. its now 2am and the phone has been synching all F'n day. It's very frustrating that it takes so long and is there anyway to speed up the process?

This might not be what you're looking for: I've heard that erasing the iDevice and restoring it helps.
