Status bar shows 3G and not Verizon(4s, iOS 5.1) HELP!!!!!

Why does my status bar show 3g where it should show Verizon?

When I open Settings>General>About, the Network status shows "Not Available".

I have done everything to try and clear but nothing seems to work. I have reloaded 5.1 update, soft reset, hard reset, *228, options 1 and 2. Nothing seems to work.

The reason I am concerned is because my upload/download speeds are averaging .70/.30.

I had this happen to me,sll of a sudden the Verizon "branding" disappeared. The Verizon towers were being updated I was told. In my case had to go to a Verizon corporate store and have them reactivate my phone.

Thanks x, I just got off the phone with Verizon and found out that the problem was with my PRL. Turns out that because I was a former Altel customer, my PRL is different from normal Verizon customers on a Verizon plan. So to get my phone to update to the Verizon network, I had to switch to a Verizon plan. Which actually ended up saving me @ $50.00.

Hmm, well, glad your plan is better, but I think you got a load of BS. I was with Alltel as well and they are not supposed to make you switch plans.
