AppleInsider reports today that the very popular music streaming and subscription service Spotify is looking to make itself even more popular by offering free streaming music for iOS devices. According to the report, Spotify is currently negotiating with Warner Music, and will soon hold talks with Sony and Universal, in a bid to get some of the fees that it has to pay to those labels reduced. Presumably this is to make it easier for Spotify to be able to introduce its free streaming music service to mobile devices. At present, this free, ad-supported service is only accessible via your desktop computer, with the current Spotify iOS app requiring a subscription. AppleInsider also reports that Apple is looking to do something similar and introduce its own streaming service, and that could even be happening very soon indeed, but there’s no word as yet as to whether this would be a free service, or subscription based.
