Sony camera issue. How to import photos onto the computer?

I just installed the pmb cd that came with my sony cybershot camera. I clicked tools, and set up the location of where my photos will be stored on the computer. I turn my camera on, and insert the usb cord into the camera/computer. I clicked import files and it says cannot find source device.
What am I doing wrong?

I know with my Sony, I had to have the camera in playback mode.
