MacRumors answers a very interesting question today about the Apple Watch, which is just how secure is it as a payment device? What’s to stop someone stealing your watch, maybe even from your arm, and then just paying for stuff using your funds?

MacRumors says that according to reports on both iMore and Cult of Mac, Apple has tackled this problem by having the security features of the watch depend on continuous skin contact.

When you first start wearing your Apple Watch, you will be prompted to type in a PIN code to authorise use of Apple Pay on the watch. Then, when you are wearing the watch, its four sapphire-covered lenses on the back will sense when it is in continuous contact with your skin, and only then will payment be authorised.

When you take the watch off your wrist, you’ll have to re-enter your PIN when you put the watch back on your wrist again.

Furthermore, Visa CEO Charlie Scharf has said that Apple is well aware of the risks of using contactless payment, and has a way of solving such issues
