MacRumors reports that Apple has today started offering SIM-free iPhone X models in its U.S. online store, so that customers are now able to choose an unlocked iPhone X that is not tied into a contract with any of the main carriers and can be activated later with any chosen carrier once purchased.
The SIM-free models, just like the Sprint and Verizon iPhone X models, are compatible with both the CDMA and GSM networks. iPhone X models that are tied in to AT&T or T-Mobile contracts do not support CDMA networks.
The current shipping time for all capacities of SIM-free iPhone X models ordered from today is just 1 week.
Up until this latest announcement, it was only possible to buy an iPhone X with an AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, or Verizon SIM, although if you bought one outright and not on a contract, it would technically be an unlocked phone.
