Shut Off The Phone - A Click?

When I first got the iPhone 5 I wondered what the clicking sound was when I shut the phone off.

Now, after 2 years, the phone doesn't make that sound anymore. Now I wonder what that is about.

Anybody know why it made the sound and why it might not?

Are "Lock Sounds" disabled in Settings - Sounds? If you want to hear that clicking sound, this has to be enabled.

The "click" is back. Go figure.

My "click" comes and goes at will. Everything else pretty much works okay so I've learned to just ignore it.
