Possible to upgrade iPhone 4 (iOS 4.x) to iOS 5 without computer?

Don't think it's possible but a friend has this problem. Is a trip to an Apple Store or Mobile operator required? I know that over the air updates will then be possible via wifi, but can you upgrade to iOS 5 via wifi (most likely too,large even for wifi)...TIA, new user!

Computer is needed until you have ios5 and then you are able to do the ota.
