Yeah and he's not on the forum anymore, he's not responding anymore. If i was mistaking, he should have corrected and rectify wgat i'm saying and deffend him self even a bit. Instead, he just went dark. I hope that the phone remain lock down so that he shouldn't be able to use the phone fobctionalities of the device.

haha! thats so funny that just because I didn't respond right away you assume I went "dark". I have alife and I'm not some internet loser who just waits around for a post on iphorums or watever this is. So what are you.. psychic? u just sense when someone is lying on here..? oh, and by the way, i'm not a guy i'm a girl lol

Hello Miss. My Appologizes for taking you for a man in my orevious posts, i was just faraway of thinking that a Miss could steal or own money to his carrier :) Whatever keeps you away all those times from the forum are great i hope. Well... How comes and your new gift is locked down? I'm not a psychic, but your story just couldn't stand long enough that's all. Anyone could sense that it's a legs shorted story. Anyway no offense at all. What's really happened Miss :)

Like I explained earlier, It wasn't locked for like the first week.. and then it was. I called Verizon, and the team specialist said the bill wasn't paid and told me to "wait". I wanted to pay the darned bill myself just to use the phone, but they said they can't release another customers info. If this was a stolen phone, I'd be arrested by now.. lol. I'm ready to put my own service on the phone, and don't wanna wait for this person to pay the bill. I wanna use it now. I can't. It's locked. But I heard there's a way to unlock iphones, or transer esn numbers... i think??

Whats the options?

I have a new Verizon iphone 4 (birthday gift) was still sealed in package, but has a bad esn. NO service..

So... Even though the phone was sealed and so on, it was already used by someone with a verizon contract, because by the time you open the box you find out that it's esn, and it was even tethered jailbreak. Ok

Earlier you've explained that is was no service at out of a sealed box. Maybe you forget to mention it well.

Why don't you jist call the person who offer you the phone to go and pay the bill? That should be the most easiest solution i think.

I don't know how things work over there and with verizon but here where i am, no one will arrest you if you succesfully steal an iPhone or found it fortunately for you. You will be in troubles only if the owner start tracking the phone and report to police or to the carrier, other than that no one will put u in jail.

Verizon lock down the phone, this lock have nothing to do with ultrasnow unlock or whatever jailbreaking unlock and i see you have figured it out soon. Call up the one who gifted you the phone and let him pay the bill. Here where i live i can take my ID and go to the carrier center and pay the bill using my ID on the behalf of someone that i know without troubles, ofcourse the carrier will ask me to provide the ID Number of the owner and some other informations before they will agree to do anything, you can call up the one who gifted you the phone and ask him to go and pay the bill, incase he doesn't have time to go, get his informations an go to verizon to pay the bill. I also see a lot of holes in the story.

Unfortunately, if the phone IS stolen, it wouldnt warrant much response from the police because the phone is retailed at $700, its $200 below the Grand theft charge. $900 is where grand theft and felonies begin.

The police will only pursue this sort of charge if the person is caught in the act, or on the person within a reasonable time of the report.

You have no option here. There are no unlocks for the Verizon iPhone to work on Metro PCS (your only other carrier option) and I would think that if the phone were really given as a dud gift, you would have gone back to the person who gifted you the phone and said "hey, I appreciate the gift, but unfortunately, its not working" and worked with them, not strangers on the internet.

Here is what i think happened...

I think that the phone was charged to an account. Whether this account is your, or perhaps a boyfriends or parents or whatever... Once the bill came with the equipment charge, you were unable to pay and said screw it, Ill just attach my phone to another account and get a free iPhone and attached a basic feature phone back on the account.

Thinking you were scott free on a "discounted" iPhone, you attached it on your new service, but when Verizon realized that you werent going to pay the bill, they looked up the history of the "stolen" device and locked it. Now realizing that you cant use the phone on Verizon you are trying to unlock it to use Metro PCS (again, the only other CDMA compatible option) and are trying to use the good graces of honest people on thie forum to perform this change over.

Im sorry, but if this is all true, stealing a phone from Verizon does not constitute a 'Free' birthday gift.

If all of this ISNT true, go to your friend who gave it to you and give it back. Plain and simple.

WTH? What kind of iphone forum is this? All I asked was two simple questions and no one has answered it yet. Just a bunch of "beating around the bush" on whether my story is true or not lol. WHO CARES whether my story is true, just answer my question, and if you can't then go answer something you have knowledge about. Bab2010- you sound like you don't know the first thing about iphones... you sound like you don't have anything better to do with your life than to come on some forum posing as a "iphone expert" an argue and chastise people looking for help. WAY TO GO!

Oh, and by the way I jailbroke my iphone MYSELF just by doing a little research. I never said the iphone was already jailbroken Dumb a**

Sure it's a forum to help each other to solve our issues with our iDevices. And i'm sorry for posting into your thread, but just ask the person who gifted u the phone to go and pay for the bill, why is it that a hard option for you? Hehehe :) actually u know why u can't ask your supposed gifter such a help, don't u ;)
Well Miss! ease your anger. I never claim to be an expert here. I'm here to learn about iPhone as well as many other people here, and maybe you are right, you need an expert to answer or helps u to solve out your issue. Wait for an expert then miss, and again ease your anger, it does help just for nothing :)

OIC! So you became a "senior member" by throwing in your dumb, useless two cents in to peoples forums and not by actually helping them out with their iphones.

I clearly and concisely answered her question. No it cannot be unlocked. Just because she doesn't like the answer does not make it untrue.

And everyone should just drop the subject and unsubscribe from the thread. Since we know the ESN is bad the phone is illegitimate anyway and wenas a community do not assist people work around ethics.

JLangevin- Your obviously "another" one who doesn't know a thing about iphones, but yet your attempting to answer questions you know nothing about. Your answer is dull and inconcise, and so YOU wanna get offensive and unsubscribe... ;p

The only one who can unlock that phone is verizon. No one else. Nobody, nadda, cant be done ever, ever, ever. Never can be unlocked by anyone else. Never, never never. You were given a wonderful paperweight. You are SOL forever with that phone.

bab2010- Just because they do things a certain way in Beijing doesn't mean they do it the same way here in u.s. Why don't you just answer questions related to Verizon Beijing since you know so much about that? Or better yet, why don't you just get off the computer and get out for a change instead of looking up noobs on iphorums to bully.

wxman 2003- Thanks for your never, never, never, ever, ever input, but I officially have service now on cricket...

so ALL of you were wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong !!! HAHAHAH!!!

I woulda shared how, but since di*k and dic*head called me a thief, i'm gonna keep it a secret... thanks to all, and to all a goodnight
