One phone in one phone out??

I've been using my 3gs for ages "Andys IPhone" The other day, i got hold of a 4s, I've now activated the 4s (but i activated as a backup of my 3gs)
So now Itunes recognises my 3gs and Iphone 4s as "Andys Iphone"

Ive been using my 4 for the last couple of days, i've got a lot of texts on it now, and a lot of stuff i don't wanna lose...


But if i connect my 3gs to itunes, it's going to backup, and sync...

And i think next time i connect my 4s it will sync the same again)

How do i totally de-assosciate my 3gs from Itunes? So i can get shot of everything, set it up as a brand new phone, update it to Ios5 and be ready to sell on?

Or would i be better off just doing a full factory reset and selling it with the older OS on it instead of os5??

You can change the name on your iphone before you connect the phone to itunes:

1. On your device, tap Settings > General > About.
2. Tap the first line, which should display the name of your device.
   
   
3. OR you can rename your previous backup.
