I did a few searches and didn't find any answers, so I'll go ahead an post this.

I noticed that the Stocks and Weather widgets that appear in the notification pull-down can be turned off. I turned them off in an effort to increase battery life. But that left me with questions; Does removing the Weather and Stocks widgets from the notification pull down increase battery life? Do these widgets update on a set frequency or only when the user opens the notifications? If the latter is true then it shouldn't have any affect on battery life since it's not updating all the time.

The only update when you pull them down. Ran that test when iOS 5.0 beta 2 came out.
Good to know, thank you for the info. That means there is no real battery drain if they're left in the notification center.

The more I learn about the iPhone, the more I realize Apple knows what they're doing :)
