Sonic The Hedgehog 2 and Streets of Rage have been updated today in the App Store, with the new update offering Bluetooth capability for multiplayer game modes (for 2nd generation iPhone and iPod touch upwards and 3.x OS or better), enabling players to team up with others who have the same game on their respective devices and do battle in each of the SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis classics.

Players who utilize multiplayer for Sonic The Hedgehog 2 can now choose between playing as Sonic or Tails as they cooperatively finish stages or race against each other on their way to defeating Dr. Eggman.

Streets of Rage, the classic 16-bit side-scrolling beat ‘em up, will also now allow cooperative gameplay since the update, so that players can tag-team their way through levels of non-stop action on their way to cleaning up the streets and ousting the crime syndicate ruling the city.

You can download Sonic the Hedgehog 2 ($5.99/£3.49) for iPhone here, and Streets of Rage ($2.99/£1.79) here.
