So the iPhone 4 I have now is the first iPhone I've ever owned and I'm getting a new one Monday since mine has a factory defect with the microphone, my question is, how do I transfer everything from the phone I have now to my new one? Do I just plug into my pc, pull up iTunes and it does it automatically? Or do I need to back up the one I have now and then restore the new one?

Connect your defective iphone to your computer, open iTunes and perform a backup. When done, connect your new iPhone and restore your backup to your new phone.

just connect your iphone to the computer and restore to a backup of the phone as long as you have all the files there you will be ok, or ask them at the apple store and they can do it for you
