9to5 Mac reports today that a source that they believe to be accurate has told them that the next iPhone is currently undergoing final testing, known as “AP stage” testing, with high-up Apple and mobile carrier execs actually getting to carry around the new phones and use them. Maybe someone will leave one in a bar again so we can all get a look at it like the iPhone 4! This means that everything is on schedule for the long-predicted September launch for the new phone, although 9to5 Mac does not say whether or not it will be an iPhone 4S or iPhone 5.

The same source has also told 9to5 Mac that Apple and Verizon have still to reach agreement about the possibility of enabling FaceTime over 3G, which iOS 5 beta has been shown to have the capability to do. Apparently Verizon and Apple have also yet to reach agreement on support for over-the-air updates which also comes with iOS 5, so Verizon customers may have to wait longer for that feature than other users.
