New feature HDR?

It seems when taking picture with HDR on, the photo comes out like washed out. It's more crisp when HDR is off. I thought it's suppose to be better. Am I missing something?

I tried it for the first time this evening and got the same results.

I did not know anything about HDR or the meaning of it up until now. There's an app in iTunes that someone mentioned called pro HDR, I purchased it and the pictures come out very crisp. If that's the apple's HDR suppose to do, it's nothing compare to pro HDR.
