Hi all,

I was given an iphone 3gs from somebody for free recently, but it needs some work on it. What is wrong with it is the lock button at the top doesn't work at all, and the button on the front screen at the bottom is a little unresponsive, but still works. Everything else i am aware of works fine, other than the case being a little cracked/worn, and the charging/headphone jacks a little worn as well.

What i would like to know is, how can i get this top button working, without having to use touch screen lock etc. Can i buy a replacement assembly, which includes a new back cover? If so, would this include the new buttons etc and relevant jacks?

If i can get a full refurbishment, i would be willing to pay up to £40/50 for spare parts, as i am willing to attempt to fix it myself.

Is this worth it, what should i do? Just to add, the phone is unlocked.

Thanks,

It's not a big deal. It's actually a common hardware problem for the 3GS really. You open it and replace it if you'd like for about 5-10$
