my iphone crashed halfway through upgrade now i have nothing

so i bought an iphone off a mate and all was good, that was until i tried to update it halfway through it crashed. now i dont get anything cant turn it on or anything. when i plug into a computer it tries to restore but halfway through it says error 37. please help me.

try put the phone into dfu mode first then restore in itunes.
