My downloaded songs keep vanishing from phone.

Surely I'm not the only one with this problem: Yesterday I added all the songs on my Mac to my iPhone 5 in the Music app. Today there are gone, except for a few.

I have done nothing to make these songs disappear that I m aware, but the songs started going missing with the switch-over to the Music app.

Any advice would be appreciated.

By the way, the total usage figure in my settings has not decreased, so the songs have to be hiding somewhere.

Or, I could just be senile.

Not iCloud. In the updated music app, look for iCloud music library.
You can access your entire iTunes library from within Apple Music—just tap the My Music tab
