Is there a way to keep the iPhone 4 from opening more than 1 app at a time? Multiple open apps suck data while traveling, and it is a pain to close them.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand. How do you open multiple apps at one time?

Sorry, I meant a way to keep multiple apps from staying open at the same time, not opening at the same time.

Well..,since you have a stock iPhone, you will have double press the home button, tap and hold on an icon. Then tap the minus sign. Them the app is quitted.

And FYI:

Apps do NOT run in the background. Certain apps can, like streaming apps, but like 99% of all apps do not run in the background. They are paused in RAM.

There is no way the apps you leave open are draining battery and using data, while you are not physically using the application.

Since I'm Jailbroken,,....I just tap and hold on my status bar, and all apps quit at one time. Removing them from the switcher.

Thanks for the info, it may be worth jail breaking to make things simpler.

Yeah their are a few tweaks to kill background apps.

Personally I've not found i need to install them as I'm not overly worried about the apps in suspended state within the icon tray, and in essence its not difficult, or time consuming to use the method described already on a stock iPhone.
