Put my mind at rest folks! I have been waiting for this jailbreak a while; I'm stuck on 4.2.1. I didn't check the site this morning for the first time, and now I'm stuck in work another three hours.
So remind me, I need to download 5.01 and then hold shift while pressing restore in latest update of iTunes? Then jailbreak using latest redsnow?

Aah thank you . Just realised all the times on this forum are US time. It's only been out a couple of hours then; cool.

Also, what's the deal with iBooks and redsnow? Am I going to need to fix it? Its not really a problem as I have other ePub readers but just wondering

Yes of course 5.0.1 is being signed, it is the most current firmware. No need to do a shift restore unless you're restoring a custom firmware.

It could be in my head but it seem that if you select your already downloaded ISPW by hitting shift restore the restore process is quicker.

It's in your head. All that hitting shift+restore does is let you select a firmware file if you've already downloaded it. It only seems like it's going faster because you're selecting a firmare file you've already downloaded as opposed to having iTunes download it for you. Either way, you still have to download the full IPSW.

Oh okay I always thought if you selected a ISPW that you already downloaded you didn't have to download it from apple. Thanks for clearing that up

Well I did shift and restore in the end just to save downloading it twice. It takes about half an hour on my connection and I waited long enough already!

You misunderstood what I meant :P If you download the IPSW beforehand and shift+restore it will not download twice. You just need to download it manually and restore manually or download an restore automatically through iTunes. I was just saying that either way you have to download the IPSW at some point and it takes the same amount of time either way.

Yeah I understand now. If you don' mind me asking did you use to work for apple or something?

Naw, I applied to work there a while ago but they never called me back lol. I have been jailbreaking since 3.1.2 and I run my own blog about it so i have lots of experience :)
