iphone4 wont charge or work on usb socket

hi , found this forum via a google searcvh . im despetately in need of help . my iphone4 wont charge and is not recognised by the usb socket on the pc . if i switch the phone off and connect the charger the apple logo appears and the phone powers up . pleeeeeease tell me its not dead

Change that cable if you are not using the original one.

no its not the original cable . i did think it could be that , but surely if that was the case the phone woulndt power up with it ?

Check your charge pin make sure there is no debris or anything effecting it. Try a different cable and change the USB port your using on your pc.

ive ordered another charger/sync cable . ive ruled out the usb sockets as i have run other things on them with no issues . hopefully a new charger will sort it because apple want £126 for an out of warranty service
