More news today on Apple’s plans for several new types of iPhone, this time from AppleInsider. According to the report, a Taiwanese website, tw.apple.pro, is claiming that Apple has developed three iPhone 5 prototypes, one of which has a sliding cover with a concealed keyboard underneath. A second prototype apparently is very similar to the iPhone 4, but has better hardware, with longer battery life and an improved camera. The report says that this would be more of an upgrade to the iPhone 4 than a major overhaul, similar to what happened when the iPhone 3G was upgraded to the iPhone 3GS. The website does not appear to have any specific details about the third prototype. As far as ascertaining the veracity of the reports from apple.pro, AppleInsider notes that the Taiwanese website has a solid track record when it comes to breaking Apple news way ahead of time, so they may well be on the right lines with these prototype details.

I hope not. :( A slideout keyboard would make it thicker and bulkier. I vote no on the keyboard.

A keyboard would go against all logic displayed by apple/sj this far. Steve wants less buttons not more!
