Iphone "other storage" !

So I am so confused about the other storage my iphone shows under itunes. I have restored my phone to factory default, was still there. I put the back up back on, still there. I am almost at 3 GB and I don't know what else to do. I erased History in my Safari, erased Text messages ... anything else I can do ?

Messages was a big culprit for me as was Mail. Cleaned those out and it helped some. A full sync also eliminated some of mine

A lot of apps collect data while running, that would also be included in the other category.

Oh really. I didn't know about the mail and the open apps. So I have a few mail accounts. One is google. When I archive/delete the email does that count into the storage as well ?
