Iphone drops off and on again

In the middle of a conversation My iphone 3G will cut out and the only thing visible is the white apple sign on the screen, this stays there for up to two minutes, then the phone comes back again, call logged off.
Any suggestions as to what this may be.

What have u recently install on the device? Uninstall it and softrestore your device.

what firmware is your 3g on and have you used any tools to unlock it?
