iPhone 7 Plus Dual-Lens Camera Expected to Cause Supply Problems

According to a note to investors from Amit Daryanani of RBC Capital Markets, via AppleInsider, due to increased demand for larger “phablet” phones, the iPhone 7 Plus will make up one third of production when the iPhone 7 launches.

It has been widely reported that the iPhone 7 Plus, just as with the iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6s Plus, will have a better camera than the standard iPhone 7. In the case of the iPhone 7 Plus, this is expected to be a dual-lens camera that can take DSLR quality images.

However, Daryanani thinks that suppliers could have problems keeping up with strong demand for the iPhone 7 Plus because of issues with producing the specific type of dual-lens camera.

Although the iPhone 7 Plus dual-lens camera will not be the only one of its type on the market, Apple wants the camera manufactured in a specific way that is based on technology that it obtained from LinX in 2015, and that could make it more difficult to produce, creating shortages of the iPhone 7 Plus.
