Hi,
As title pretty much, any earphones I plug into my iphone 5, only the right side will work properly with the left being either very faint or muffled.
I have changed the lightning dock/jack port assembly today and problem still exists
Any ideas?

Check Settings/General/Accessibility and make sure the balance slider is set to central position.

Thanks for the reply,
Checked that, unfortunately it is in the centre

Its just about 20% volume compared to the right
If I rotate the headphone connection in there, there is some distortion noise and becomes normal/high for a mini second. This led me to believe it was a faulty jack so changed it but problem still the same.

I have checked 2 lots of headphones (they work in my other iphone fine)

The ground cable they surrounds the jack wouldnt affect it? (there is a small tear in it)

A faulty ground connection very well could be causing your problem. Was this small tear there before you changed the headphone jack?

I think there might have been damage which escalated when I tried to transfer over

I however swapped the ground cable over from my other work iphone 5, this did not change the outcome with it still being really quiet in the left ear piece.
I then rechecked all the connections on the logic board, all was clean contacts/ok. Upon putting it back for the 100th time, its now decided to work fully again!
On a side note, i put the damaged ground connection in my work phone and this has not affected the jackport on that one.

Totally weird scenario with the only thing I can point towards Is the logic board itself, fingers crossed no further problems will arise.
Thanks for your help

If it happens again put it in a dock and see if the same issue appears. If it does there may be an audio processor or logic board issue internal to the phone. The 30 pin or lightning connector will bypass the headphone jack on the phone.

Recently I had a problem with my audio jack too. In my case it was some fine dirt inside the jack and I cleaned it very gently with a needle. Afterwards it was all ok again.

Of course in your case it could also be a problem with the electric connection of the jack and the rest of the iPhone..

good info,On a side note, i put the damaged ground connection in my work phone and this has not affected the jackport on that one.
