Iphone 4 being kinda slow

Is there anything I can do to my phone to make it go a little faster? I already hit the home button to close all running apps several times a day. And I shut my phone off at least once a day. And I disabled all the searches.

to disable the search option go to settings> general> spotlight search/ there you can uncheck stuff to not include in the search results.

Close all you applications from the multitasking bar if you haven't done that. Hard reset your iPhone (Push both home button and power off/on button until the device auto power off and come back on with the white apple logo, then you let go both buttons and wait for the iPhone to boot completely)
Do you have enough storage memory in your phone? if no, try to transfer your pictures videos to your computer to free some of your store memory.
Is your iPhone jailbreaked by any chance? if yes that could be the origin of the iPhone lagging.

Ok I just did the restore about 2 minutes ago and it didn't delete anything. Is it supposed to?

You have to restore as new phone.

Before I restored it it informed me that it would go back to factory settings and I hit ok. I don't know. Maybe I should just wait till it has major problems then take it to the store. Than you for your advice though. I do appreciate it

Before you make a restore, you might want to look into what is causing the problem. Are you running low on memory, running on max capacity, are there any processes running that might cause your phone to be slow?

There are many system-apps out there, that will diagnose your phone, so that you can have an idea what is going on. I use a free app called SystemLite, and I would recommend that you start here, before you just restore your phone.
