I have the iPhone 4 got a new battery in it last week and it don't seem good in the space of a hour it lost 10% by just using whatsapp and some other apps surly a new battery should do better than this ?

You have to calibrate it and manage all the other data using settings such as Location System Settings, Push/Fetch, etc.

I have tried that it don't work nothing has changed since the phone was new and then the original battery lasted a lot longer how do you mean calibrate it?

Calibrating mean draining the battery to zero, or basically the point where it turns off on its own. Then leave it as is for a few hours, then charge it completely again without interruptions, meaning do not unplug or use it during the charging. Then "overcharge" it for another hour. Before unplugging it, perform a hard reset. This is calibrating your battery. This might have to be done several times in succession before your battery's actual available output is shown. Do this on an outlet, not via USB to your computer

Ok and if you don't mind me asking why has this to be done surly a new battery should work ok?

Yes, your new battery is probably working fine. However, until you calibrate it, the battery monitor on the iPhone cannot get an accurate reading of the battery's charge status; it doesn't know the range from full to empty.

To calibrate it, run the battery down to below 5% (or as low under that as you can bear). Then, plug it in to charge - but don't use it while it's charging and don't take it off the charger until it's at 100%. This way, again, the battery monitor know where completely empty is versu completely full and so can show you an accurate battery percentage.

Ok so I let it drop right down till below 5% then leave it for a few hours then charge it till 100% over charge for a hour then give it a hard restart ? Erm how do I hard restart the phone ?

You don't need to "leave it for a few hours" after it gets below 5% or so - what I mean by leave it alone is that you don't use it while its charging to 100%. You also don't need to do a reset or a restart after it's finished charging. You can if you wish, but it's not necessary for battery calibration.

Ok I have st it drop to 2% and charged it fully lets see how it goes like wile using the phone to go on the net or send a few messages on whatsapp I cud see it dropping a percentage every 3 to 4 minutes surly it should been better than that ? When new I was getting about 14 hours out of it before the need to charge it now its like about 5 hours

It's not looking good down to 82% and I ain't used it that much just texting 😠

Try turning Location System Services as well. And you'd have to calibrate it several times before it becomes "true" or effective.

I've had a problem with mine for a while know after it got replaced. After about 3 calibrations, the battery is much much better, especially so since I'm on iOS 7 beta. Generally several times. If it doesn't get any better, you'd want to get a replacement or get the replacement returned for a new one
