iCloud vs iTunes

I let iPhone back up to iCloud every night. But sounds like to make sure everything has a backup I need to sync to iTunes as well??

Guess I am confused on how backup on two differs??

Every time it backs up it for to your iCloud which carry about 5 gb by default it doesn't backup to ur computer. So for example of you lose your phone and buy a new one you dont need to go to your computer to restore it ask you once your activating your phone if you wanna restore from iCloud.
