Facebook announced last month that it will be making the Facebook Messenger app mandatory, for all users who wish to message friends. This can be somewhat of an annoyance, since most folks check Facebook and message friends at the same time, and now with this is pay, users would need to switch back and forth between apps.
Thankfully, there's a fix! Someone managed to figure out how to continue using Facebook messages, using only the Facebook app and not Messenger. The bypass might not work for too long, as Facebook might fix the glitch in the system, but for now, it works. Here's how!
Step 1: Make sure Facebook Messenger is not installed on the device, if it is delete it.
Step 2: Launch the Facebook app and hit the Messages tab. You should see Facebook asking you to install Facebook messenger.
Step 3: Hit the "Install" button, which will take you to the App Store. Start downloading Facebook Messenger, and once you see the download circle start filling up, press the square and stop the download.
Step 4: Now you can go back to the Facebook app and message friends like the good ol' days.
Once again, we don't know how long this will work, it could be a few days, it could be forever. It just depends on when Facebook will decide to fix it. Enjoy!
