Or in fact from my iPad to my replacement iPhone, is my question. I broke my iPhone and got a new 4s to replace it. At the Apple store they were able to download much of what was my dead iPhone to my iPad. Now how do I migrate that to the new phone. FYI My iMac died three weeks ago and have not replaced it yet, and that's where my phone was backed up. Should have used the cloud!

Depends on where the rep from the Apple Store downloaded your data and what format they're in. If they uploaded the data to iCloud, just sign in and restore. If it's on a flash drive or something, then you'll have to find a computer to manually sync everything over again.
