How do I lock keypad while on phone

The proximity sensor suppose to turn the display off when you are in call and have the phone inner speaker near or touching your ear about. If the display doesn't turn off automatically, then your phone is defective, you can also just push the power on/off button of the phone after you receive or make the call, this will let the screen lock and so the keyboard will not be accessible anymore.
